How to get anonymous questions on WhatsApp status

By the Loomii team · Reviewed 10 October 2026

To get anonymous questions on WhatsApp, copy your anonymous link from an app like Loomii and post it as a WhatsApp status — either as text or as a photo caption. Contacts tap the link and send you messages without their name or number being shown.

Why WhatsApp status works so well

Your WhatsApp contacts are people who actually know you — classmates, cousins, colleagues. That makes WhatsApp status one of the best places for anonymous questions: people who might never comment publicly will happily send something when their name isn’t attached.

WhatsApp normally shows your number and name with every message, so anonymity has to come from a link. When a contact taps your Loomii link, it opens in their browser; whatever they type arrives in your Loomii inbox, not in WhatsApp, and you never see their number.

How to post your link as a WhatsApp status

Option 1 — a text status (quickest):

  1. Copy your link in Loomii (Home → Copy link).
  2. Open WhatsApp, go to Updates (or Status) and tap the pencil icon.
  3. Type a prompt, such as “Send me anonymous questions 👀”, then paste your link on a new line.
  4. Pick a background colour and tap Send.

Option 2 — a photo status with the link in the caption:

  1. In Loomii, open Share and pick a story template; save the image.
  2. In WhatsApp, tap the camera icon in Updates and choose the saved image.
  3. Paste your link in the caption box and tap Send.

Links in WhatsApp status text and captions are tappable, so contacts can open them straight away.

Tip: Want only close friends to see it? Use Status privacy → “Only share with…” before posting.

Sharing in groups and chats

You can also paste your link into a group chat or your WhatsApp About. In groups, a fun prompt like “Rate everyone in this group, anonymously 😂” gets a lot of replies — just make sure the group is OK with it. Messages still arrive anonymously in Loomii; the group never sees who sent what.

Status ideas that get replies

  • “Ask me anything for 24 hours — I’ll answer the best ones.”
  • “Honest opinion about me? Totally anonymous.”
  • “What do you really think of my new haircut?”
  • “Confess something you’ve never told me 🤐”
  • “How well do you know me? Take my quiz” — Loomii’s quiz shows a scoreboard of who knows you best.

When to post, and how often

WhatsApp status lasts 24 hours and shows up for every contact who has your number saved (unless you limit it). A few habits make a big difference:

  • Post in the evening, between about 7 and 10 pm, when most people check statuses.
  • Post the link as the first status of the day — people often tap through a long chain of statuses quickly and skip the later ones.
  • Don’t post the same prompt every day. Rotate between questions, ratings and quizzes so it stays fresh.
  • Answer a few messages the next day as status updates; it shows the link is real and active.

Replying to messages on WhatsApp

  1. Open the message in Loomii and tap Reply.
  2. Pick a story template — there are festival and seasonal ones — and write your answer.
  3. Tap Share, choose WhatsApp, and post it to your status (or send it straight to a chat).

The card shows the question and your answer, never the sender. If a message is about someone in your contacts, think twice before posting it — WhatsApp audiences are small and everyone knows everyone.

WhatsApp-friendly games

Some games suit WhatsApp better than others, because your audience is people you actually know:

  • Honest opinion: contacts give thoughtful, real feedback — great for “What should I improve?”.
  • The quiz: family and old friends love proving they know you; post the scoreboard the next day.
  • Ask me anything before a big moment — a new job, a move, results day.
  • Festival wishes: around Diwali, Eid or Christmas, ask for anonymous wishes and share the sweetest ones on a festival template.
  • Rate me works too, but keep it light (“Rate my cooking”) when relatives are watching.

A note on family and work contacts

Unlike Instagram, your WhatsApp contacts probably include parents, relatives, teachers or colleagues. That can be lovely — relatives send the sweetest messages — but it also means your status reaches people you might not want playing Crush or Confession with you.

Use Status privacy to choose who sees it: “My contacts except…” lets you hide a status from specific people, and “Only share with…” lets you pick a small group. Keep the deeper games for the small group and post light ones, like music or food questions, to everyone.

Privacy: what your contacts can and can’t see

Your contacts see your link and your Loomii username, nothing else from your account. You never see the sender’s number. Loomii can show limited hints taken from real data — for example that a message came from WhatsApp, or the sender’s device type — but never a name, phone number or IP address. If anyone sends something hurtful, report and block them from the message. Blocked senders can’t reach you again, and messages with bullying words are hidden automatically. Read more in are anonymous message apps safe?.

Questions people ask

Not through WhatsApp itself, which always shows the sender’s number. Post an anonymous Q&A link such as Loomii’s on your status, and messages arrive anonymously in the Loomii app.

They already have your number as a contact, but the link doesn’t show it, and you never see their number either. Messages through your Loomii link are anonymous.

Yes. Links in text statuses and photo captions are tappable, so contacts can open your anonymous link directly.
