How to get anonymous messages on Snapchat

By the Loomii team · Reviewed 10 October 2026

To get anonymous messages on Snapchat, copy your anonymous Q&A link (for example from Loomii), take a snap, tap the paperclip icon to attach the link, and post it to My Story. Friends swipe or tap the link and send messages without their name.

How anonymous messages work on Snapchat

Snapchat itself always shows who sent a chat. Anonymous messages come from a separate link that you attach to a snap. When a friend taps it, a web page opens where they can type a message, and that message arrives in your anonymous inbox — not in Snapchat chat — with no name attached.

You do not need to connect any account or give an app access to Snapchat. The link is just a web address, which also means it works the same on Instagram and WhatsApp.

What to post to get more replies on Snapchat

Snapchat stories are quick and casual, so short prompts work best:

  • “Rate me 1–10, no one will know 👀” — use the Rate me game.
  • “Who’s your crush on my story? Anonymous 🔥” — use the Crush game.
  • “Confess something you’ve never told me” — use the Confession game.
  • “Ask me anything, I’ll answer the best ones on my story.”

Need more prompts? Try our 100+ anonymous question ideas or the rate me, crush and confession ideas.

Answering anonymous messages on Snapchat

Open the message in Loomii and tap Reply. The app turns the question into a story card you can save or share. On Snapchat, add the saved card from your camera roll to a new snap and post it — the sender stays anonymous because only the question is shown.

Answering a few messages publicly keeps people sending more. Reply to the funny and kind ones; you never have to answer anything you don’t want to.

Snapchat vs Instagram for anonymous questions

The same link works on both, but the two apps give you different kinds of replies:

  • Snapchat stories are seen mostly by close friends you’ve added back, so replies are more personal and more playful. Crush and Confession games do especially well here.
  • Instagram stories reach followers you may barely know. You get more replies overall, and quick games like Rate me and music questions work best.
  • Snapchat snaps are casual and quick to make, so it’s easy to post a new prompt every day. On Instagram, a polished template looks better.

Many people post a fun prompt on Instagram and a more personal one on Snapchat at the same time. Loomii’s hints show which app each message came from, so you can see which crowd is more talkative.

Caption ideas for your snap

  • Swipe up and tell me something you’ve never said 🤐
  • Anonymous rate me — I can take it
  • Who on my story has a crush on me? 👀
  • Send me your hottest take
  • Ask me anything, I’ll answer on my story tonight
  • Describe me in one word, go
  • Guess my favourite song (send your guess)
  • Confess your most embarrassing Snapchat moment
  • What should I do this weekend?
  • Tell me what you really think of my streaks

Write the caption big on the snap itself. People glance at a snap for a second or two, so the prompt needs to be readable without zooming.

Private stories: choose who sees your link

Snapchat lets you post to a Private Story that only people you pick can see. That’s ideal for anonymous games: you control the audience, so you’re far less likely to get messages from strangers. Make one called “Ask me 👀”, add your closest friends, and post your link there whenever you want honest replies.

Remember that anyone who has your link can still send a message if they pass it on. If a link starts travelling further than you want, pause new messages in Loomii for a day and post again later.

Staying safe

Anonymous apps are fun when they stay kind. Loomii hides messages with bullying words automatically, lets you add your own hidden words, and lets you report or block a sender in two taps. You can pause your link at any time if things get too much.

If you’re a parent wondering whether this is OK for your teen, our parents’ guide to anonymous apps explains the settings that matter. Loomii is for people aged 13 and over.

Troubleshooting

  • No paperclip icon? Update Snapchat; link attachments are available on current versions for snaps and stories.
  • Friends say the link doesn’t open? Check you pasted the complete address with your username and no extra spaces.
  • Messages not arriving? Check that Settings → Privacy & safety → Pause new messages is off, and that you’re connected to the internet.

You can post the same link on Instagram and WhatsApp status. Loomii shows which app each message came from as a hint. For everything else, see the complete guide.
